Default Henry's WC Setup

Hey guys,

This post will be the first of many. For many months now I've been scouring the internet for information and how-tos on water cooling. After developing a pretty good understanding of what is required/needed for it all, I have decided to start building my own.

Along with reading many different work logs and tutorials I have also started looking around for parts. Unfortunatley living in Australia makes it quite difficult. Here in brissy there are only a few decent "water coolling" specialist stores but none with a vast range of products at competetive price's (like some US stores).

So today i headed of to ABC Spare Parts (A massive wrecking yard) and scoured through there piles and piles of used spare car parts in search of a heater core. After a few minutes of searching i found one. A beautiful Silver Ford Taurus heater core. The man at the counter sold it to me for $50.

Ignore those old fans sitting on top of it. They were the closest things i could find to put the heatercore into scale.

As you've probably worked out the heater core will fit 4x80mm, 4x92mm and 2x 120mm fans. After many minutes of contemplating on which set up would be best I have decided to go with 2(4x92mm) 1 set sucking the other set blowing.

As i have no room for this beast inside my case I have decided to build an enclosure around it containing both the heater core and fans. Below is a diagram of what it will look like:

Now while looking at that and the heater core imagine the heater core sitting in the middle of the bottom pic with the pipes going out the back with 4 fans attached to each of the side panels blowing air through the case.

Tommorrow I start work on the enclosure.. Hopefully it will all turn out ok. Looking forward to some feedback and advice on what I have so far.

Oh btw the fans i will be using are "NMB DC 3615KL" spec sheet can viewed here: http://www.nmbtech.com/products/fans/dc3615kl.html

You might just be able to get a cieling fan to fit that rad, it would be 240V but that does not matter and would have great CFM and is cheap and quiet You can get 2 fans for 20 bucks at Bunnings. There is also some smaller cieling fans available too.

another good store that ships internationally is frozencpu.com. They are overpriced on some things and have great deals on others. But they always ship fast and they have good support
