Default Is it possible to fix a leaky heater core?

Well i found a heater core and a fairly large radiator in my shed and the heater core leaks a bit in the lower right hand corner they both have some blemishes(bent fins) in places but i could care less about that :P So is it possible to fix a leaky heater core?

If the temp is high enough (120F) you can crack part of an egg into the top of the heatercore. Other than that, i don't know, maybe buy a new one at dangerdenstore.com , the prices there are awesome. And If you do buy multiple things online, buy in one purchase, that saves a LOT of money on shipping!

I'm thinking it would be cheaper to got to the auto parts store and pick up a heater core from a 77 Pontiac Bonneville.

How good are you at soldering? You'll need a torch. Either that or use some epoxy or JB Weld to seal the hole. Since the water circulating throught the heatercore will not be much hotter than ambient temps either of the last two should work.

It would probably be StopFlow (through the tiny orifices of the WB lol)

No eggs, no stop leak, JB weld yes, solder yes. Make sure you clean the area really well down to bare metal before using epoxy or solder or you won't get the seal you need.

Good luck!
