In there, it says the auction includes 3/8" ID Tubing Connectors. I have a 1/2" system.... Is it worth it to buy this thing for under 10 dollars with 10 dollar shipping, only to later drill out 2 extra holes and buy 2 extra fittings ??? How much will the fittings cost me? And i take it i would need some sort of cement like expoxy to secure the fittings, correct? Just a question... |

First off, welcome to the forums!
I belive you can buy adapters for fairly cheap that convert 3/8" to 1/2" and vice versa, I'll go see if I can find a link. You shouldn't have to drill out new holes.

Nylon Barbs from danger den are $1.50, then thread tape. Do you have the tools to drill and tap the new holes? that will set you back another $15 at least for a drill and tap. So I would say unless you plan to use it as is...don't.
You can use adaptors but that will not give you the benefit of 1/2 ID.

Do not use glue. Do it right. Drill and tap.
A tap is the tool that makes threads in a hole. A local auto mechanic might do it for a low price. If you paid for shipping, I would do it for you.

Teflon tape helps make a watertight seal for all screw in fittings for plumbing. If you don't know what it is figure it out before you put your water system together. You could if you got the right type of epoxy, but you would have to make sure it was watertight. I would just say go with a normal res or get a Tline. Buying it and modding it would take money and time for something that anyone running a Big Water can have.

You will need a 1/4 NPT pipe tap $8 to $10 and a 7/16 drill bit ( I prefer a 29/64) which will not fit into a hand drill unless you find one with a turned down shank another $8 to $10.
Here is a pic of me tapping a 1/4 npt hole in brass:http://www.overclock.net/attachments...g?d=1130729532
