Question Dose Case Size Matter / Is Water Cooling Necessary?

Hello, I知 about to build my very first computer. I need to have a nice rig so I can cut down on rendering times in Maya. I'm planning to OC my CPU (and maybe the graphics card). Do I need water cooling or can I get away with a good fan (or does it depended on who much I oc it)? And I知 planning on getting a Mid-tower. Will that work size wise or do I need a full tower for liquid cooling? Thanks!!!

Water isn't necessary, but it keeps your OC high and your CPU cool. It just depends on how much you want to OC. If you want all the water cooling gear inside I'd go with a full tower, but yet again it depends on what rad you want to go with, which depends on how much you want to OC and how low you want your temps.

I'm new to all of this so I知 not sure what I want the temps to be at, i guess cool enough so the chip doesn稚 burn up or crash a lot. I'm not even sure exactly what all I知 gonna get yet for my cpu. I would like to OC the cpu as high as possible. I would also like to make it all internal if possible. The case I would like to use is here -->

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811144152

but if that is no good i guess I could go for a full tower.

It's all up to you. You can make just about anything work as long as you got the time and the money

What does your budget look like?

Budget for the whole computer about $3000-$2500. $600-1000 of that going to a GUP or two. I would like to keep the budget for cooling system low. I was planning on making my own rather than buying a kit. And I'm really far away from putting it all together. 6 months to a year, I知 just looking for some ideas, but I guess I should hold off until I start getting closer to build it, and know what exactly what I知 gonna get.

*edit: I think I mite get this Intel Pentium D 930 Presler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116238 and OC it to 4GHz but It will probably be outdated by the time I'm ready to buy.

If I where you I would get air cooling such as a Big Typhoon (which is one of the best on the market as of now and allows for some good overclocks, but in the time you do purchase your computer there will most likely be something better) for around $50 its your best bet. Watercooling can easily set you back $200-300 for a good setup.
Also full tower can matter, having one allows better airflow for one and since this is your first build it will leave you with a lot of room to work in and also upgrade.
Also since you are going to be using Maya or any 3d program for that matter, I recommend only getting a single video card, there is no point or performance increase when rendering. I suggest you the top of the line card and use the rest on a large/dual monitor setup, much more practical.
Also dont bother getting a workstation card you will be better off with a gaming GPU which you can at the worst softmod towards a quatro/firegl if needed.

Oh and by the way welcome to the forums.
