Well, I'm gaining steam on the second hand watercooling project for my rig. I'm now the proud owner of two radiators (one 1x 120mm, one 2x 120mm), a Danger Den Acrylic 5 1/4" bay reservoir, and a Danger Den TDX block with a Brass Top. All second hand/used, and all gotten at a good price.
When I got the TDX in the mail, the base was kinda grungy and had fingerprints corroded into the surface. Took care of that about an hour ago ![]() ![]() The next items in my sights are: 1) Tubing - Planning on using Primoflex 1/2" ID 2) Pump - Looks like a Mag Drive 7 will be my choice. 3) Relay - This one looks like it will do the job well, and on the cheap, too. If anyone has any of these, and is looking to sell them, please let me know. Everything else in my system is second had, so far. I'd like to manage to keep it that way (minus the tubing & clamps... I won't use anything but new. It's just not worth the risk there). Any of you hardcore, hella-experienced watercoolers have any thoughts on my choices so far, and have any advice to improve it?

you can get by w/o a relay switch. What I did when I had a 110v pump was plug the pump into the same surge protector as my cpu, then the pump would always be on when the cpu had power. then when I turned my computer off I'd just flip the switch on the surge protector.
fstfrddy went to home depot and made a switch that sits alongside his computer for a few dollars. these are just a couple ideas that will be cheaper than a relay... and keep to the spirit of your project ![]()

Mount your radiator with the inlet and outlet tubes at the top for the ease of bleeding out the air.

Thankfully, it's an easy proposition to flip it.

Does anyone have any suggestions about running hard lines? I'm thinking of running either copper or stainless steel lines between the two radiators, and back into the case. I plan on using 1/2" ID Primoflex tubing throughout the inside.
Am I just setting myself up for problems? The reason I'm thinking about hard lines is I'd still like to be able to easily move/transport my rig. I figure if all the external routing is done in s/s or copper, I won't have to worry as much about pinched/ripped tubing or any chance of weakening any point where tubing is clamped to fittings. Also, where is the best place to plumb and to install the fill port? I was originallt thinking of installing a Danger Den fillport in the top of the case & just plumbing it into a T fitting at the highest point of the plumbing. Now I'm wondering if I should just plumb some type of fillport to the top of the radiator. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
