Default How does the CoolIT Freezone compare to a high power Watercooling system?

Like say an L45 with a Storm G4 (since it's near impossible to get a G5)?

I'm totalling up alot of what I'm looking at for a water cooling rig and I've allready more or less come to the price of the Chiller without getting to waterblocks, tubing, flow controllers or temp gauges.

This is the package I've put together:

Black Ice X 3 $60
L45 Pump $61.99
GateWatch Fan Controller $47.99
3x Panaflo FBA12G12H $105
Fass-o-matic Resevoir/ drive bay mount $70.00+23.99

Subtotal: 368.99 (Not counting shipping and/or tax, plus water blocks, flow controllers etc.)

Coolit Freezone: $389.99

Might I be better off getting that and getting a cheaper pump and cooler block for my HD's and gpus?

The Freezone is designed for shuttle and other small form factor PCs that normally can not take advantage of the lower temps water cooling provides. Most of the reviews I have seen give it performance ratings about in the middle. It's good, but it's not great.

If you have space concerns, the Freezone is a good option, if you have the money. However, if you don't want it to be all internal, or have the room to mount larger items internally, I would recomend the Swiftech H20-120 or 220, or going with custom.

yeah, you'll probably get much better performance from a custom kit.

I have a couple suggestions to the what you have selected.

for a rad the BIX is a great rad, but you can get very similar performance with a new Black Ice GT or with a swiftech rad. Both those solutions work well with low cfm and thus low db fans as well. So a black ice gt 360 with 3-6 yate loon fans would be much cheaper and offer the same performance.

I also highly suggest the dd d5/ swiftech mcp655 pump over the hydor l45. the l45 is 110v and will be much louder than the d5, and you honestly do not need a pump that powerful for your system. the l35 is more than powerful enough. (and is still about 10x as loud as the d5) voyermods has the d5 on sale for $65.

for fans take a look at jab-tech and svc.com. if svc has the fans you're looking for they often have great prices on them. I'm using 3 panaflo medium speed fans that came from svc and they cost about $20 shipped.
Some other good 120x38mm fans are sanyo denki fans. petra's tech shop sell them for about $11 ea. They push about 110cfm I believe and are very quiet when undervolted.

the res that you chose is probably just for looks and isn't really necessary.

I read a review on the CoolIt last week..I think the performance is similar to top-end air cooling but nothing out of this world. It didnt perform as well as the swiftech kit, and so would be blown away my a good custom kit (storm G5, BIX, D5 etc.)
