Default How To: Do basic custom text hot linking

Veterans of this forum, or people who of learned some BBcode, will of most likely learned this skill, so my target audience will be newer members or those who have not learned this, like I was when I acquired this skill several months ago.
Why learn this skill?
  • neater posts
  • long HTMLs can ruin the formatting of your post
  • saves loading time to see where the links lead, as with product links

The mini lesson
lets say you want to help someone who is asking advice on a build. You have reviewed their list and see a product you disagree with, for example lets say RAM.
they have selected something from newegg and you go there as well to pick out some more fitting ram
you have picked out some nice Price to performance gskills for $50 you could post in there thread with something like this:
Quote:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231098
here is some DDR800 Gskill ram, cas 5 for $50 before shipping
but that does not look as neat as it could be, with the addition of some basic BBcode, you could have a post that look like this:
Quote:
here is some Gskill PC6400 cas 5 ram for $50 at newegg.
This formatting was achieved by using the code ["URL=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098]Gskill PC6400 cas 5 ram[/url"] The red quotation marks are to be removed when actually using this, as they are just here to interrupt execution.

using the code:
["URL=insert the url you wish to use]what you would like the text to read on your post[/url"]
you can apply this to any thing on the web you would like such as:
Well this is what i have to offer, thanks for reading this post. My hope this will help the new members of our forum and anyone who would like to neaten up there posts will a little BBcode coding.
Thanks to:
Ictinike
Qwert_uiop
and Chipp
These guys helped a new member out in coding a while ago, that thread is where I got the inspiration to post this How To
as well as Brightemo, who pointed out some corrections
Any feed back and comments would be greatly appreciated as this is my first How To

Just a quick note to say that this is not actually HTML, but in fact BBCode which gets translated into HTML via the Forum Software.

Otherwise nice tutorial.
