Hey guys I was going to be building a website using, probably, Sharepoint Designer or Expression Web (teaching myself web development). I am intending to use my 8 core, 4 terabyte server as my domain host and I was going to set up kind of a web based FTP server for family and friends. I want to be able to have people visit the site, log in, create an account, and be able to securely upload and download data off of their account.
__________________Will I be able to affectively implement these FTP and even FTPS functions using these tools or are there better options out there that will leave me room for growth in the future?? Thanks for your input beforehand and wish me luck ![]() (I am using Server 2003 on the server)

Nope. FTPS or SFTP is extremely secure, which is why it is automatically implemented with darn near every computer in the world when TCP/IP is installed.

Thanks. Looks promising. I should just be able to implement proftp (if that is what I use) as the underlying to the website correct.

true, technically basic FTP is not secure, but once you add the 's' at the end of it, it is secure

I have used Filezilla and it is pretty good. As far as implementing an already finished product for "commercial" (family and friends) use though...??? I guess I just wouldnt know how to use the finished product with the website.
