This is a total flame thread, but I read this article this morning and I was cracking up. Jeff Atwood of Coding Horror is a great writer, and he just tears apart php. Of course it's a one-sided argument, but he makes it entertaining and I enjoyed it as a php => .Net convert.

PHP owns. Made a website when I was 15 years old with a PHP back-end. Sold it a couple years later for $6000.

I hate JSP enough to say you sir have no taste in dynamic languages. I would rather use pre PHP 4.x than use JSP.

PHP sucks because only one thing. It's too easy to learn/use because every lamer start programming big/commercial products, without knowing anything of OOP and that in PHP you do not have to write the algorithms on your own, you have "internal"/integrated functions for that.

I was a lamer too, but I advanced.


Microsoft Bulgaria representative tried to convince me that writing on .NET takes less code/work than writing on PHP. I wasn't very convinced, but maybe it is true. But Zend Framework resolves the problem.
