I've worked with both, and I really have to say when it comes down to it, I always end up going back to vBulletin. It's the most consistent for me.

i prefer vbulletin, for the simple fact, phpbb is easily hacked. i ran a forum a few years back with it, and i had to close it, cause i was getting hacked daily.

i never liked phpbb from the start of my web fetish.. went right to SMF www.simplemachines.org was happy for a while. decided to venture elsewhere for a few certain mods i couldn't obtain from SMF.. ran into IPB. loved it for over a year. switched to vbulletin this year. and haven't looked back! the hooks system is amazing.

il admit though. i was LOST in vbulletin acp at the start.. for a new user it can be daunting.. but after getting the hang of it. im loving vbulletin! was so happy i upgraded from the leased to owned license before my first month was up
