Default drag and drop web design

ok so i have a possibly very dumb question but is there a way to drag and drop images/text boxes ect... in dreamweaver because the way i see it is that you have to use tables to do everything and its like impossible to position stuff where i want it lol.... im very noob at this can someone please point me in the right direction

thanks a bunch guys

Well, tables is a simple although somewhat outdated way to line up your site, the only thing I can think of that would be somewhat noobfriendly, although not exactly recommended, would be to position everything absolute. So within every element, <p>, <div>, <img> you would need a style="position: absolute;" then you can just kind of drag the stuff around where you want, This may or may not help you

For the love of jeebus don't use tables. It makes things much harder to work with.

I use Expression Web 2 and while it doesn't use a drag and drop system, it makes lots of things adjustable.

Div tags are the way to go now, you can download a pretty nice 3 col template here http://www.2createawebsite.com/design/csstemplate.zip, also check out http://www.w3schools.com/ for just about anything related to web coding

edit: anddd here are some "cheat sheets" good for reference http://www.addedbytes.com/cheat-sheets/ includes multiple languages, downloadable pdf

drag and drop? publisher if thats still around. html is very simple along with css and div tags. i member learning html in its early stages when color font was AWESOME! now its so advanced and every other 12yo is making a site that puts my work to shame.

good luck

oh and i second w3 schools. and in your other post you said dreamcs4, stick to it. its what i use for websites. if its to overwhelming, notepad++ is just code.

You can drag and drop using Dreamweaver and most other HTML editors with the GUI. All you do is add the "position:absolute" style to the div tag or image. Just a bit of warning you might not get what you see in Dreamweaver when you preview the page in a browser. Very hit or miss depending on how well you nest the tags.

You should learn to do full CSS layouts.

Here is a great tutorial on how to do it with DW. Lots of other good tutorials on this site as well.
