Default web hosting help

Hi, I'm working a web site for my work and im a little confused on some things. Im using artisteer 2 to make my template, but i have to upload that to joomla or something similar. My isp is going to be hosting the website and they support php and frontpage. Can i even use artisteer to lay out the site or do i have to start over with something different? Can i upload the artisteer template to a ftp host if they dont support joomla?
I dont want to switch to someone else to host it since web hosting is included in our package. The problem is that im a complete noob so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I dont know the web coding and all that so im trying to just use artisteer since its simple enough for noobs to use.

If the host has PHP support then it will be able to run Joomla. For the template, you could use something generated by Artisteer. Export it and zip, then upload to the templates directory and unzip. Then initialize the template in the Joomla backend.

You would need to upload the files for Joomla and install it probably which would more than likely require you making a database. Im not familiar with it, just familiar with similar software.

Here is the documentation for the install.

You will need to create the DB. If the server has cPanel it should be fairly easy.

hmm, ok so i see i can create a new directory, i did that now i should be able to download joomla then upload it?
Im sorry lol im just so new to this sort of thing and dont really have any other means of getting this done. Its for my families business, we have been in the stone ages as far as advertising goes, and web hosting is included in our package with our isp. So now its up to me to get this done, the most ive done is build my own computers....guess thats what landed me this responsibility.

edit: oh im not sure what cpanel is...you mean control panel? i can get to that from my isp's web site i believe..brb

Control panel access is usually www.YOURSITE.XXX:2082. The port can change, but from my experience it has been mostly that number. I recommend reading those install instructions several times start to finish before doing a single thing. I find it is easier that way and things may look familiar later if I get stuck trying to do it.

I use FTP to upload files to the server and cpanel to do the database (db) and other stuff. I use Filezilla for the FTP program, and your host provides the control panel software. So just read the instructions and stumble through it a few times. Practice makes perfect and there is information for everything all over the internet. Joomla is pretty popular as far as I know so it shouldnt be a huge thing to find help here and on their forum.

Thanks! The cpanel access doesnt work, i tried the port i think it may be and it denied access. Are you referring to instructions you linked in your fist post? I dont see anything there.

Oops. Forgot to add them up there, my fault.

http://help.joomla.org/content/category/48/268/302/

You should go over any information you got from your host about control panel/ftp access information. If you dont have any, I would email them and ask for it, but I am pretty sure they probably gave it to you at some point.
