I'm looking to bridge/integrate two CMS so a user can go between the two parts of the site under the same username with only having to login once. The two CMS are Magento Commerce and vBulletin. I'm not sure where to start, advice would be much appreciated.

I think you're going to have a hard time finding someone with specific knowledge of both vB and Magento (I've never heard of it before).
Basically though, choose which ever one is harder to modify, and use that as the user store. Modify the second's authentication modules to read/write the cookies and user database of the first. Good luck!
