Default Help with domain setup

Hey guys,

this might be in the wrong forum but it was the best bet I could find.

Okay so i've setup some webhosting with 1 company, and registered a domain with another;
I've got a subdomain with the hosting company - ex. abc.host1.com
I've got the domain with the domain company - ex. registereddomain.co.uk

I've configured the nameservers on the domain to correspond with those of the hosting company, and i've parked the domain in cpanel via my hosting's cpanel login bit.

Now it works fine, when i got to registereddomain.co.uk in my web browser it takes me over to my website, but the web address in the navigation bar reverts back to the subdomain (abc.host1.com) instead of always showing the domain name I bought like I want it to be.

I did originally have destination forwarding turned on with the domain host company (i use 1and1.co.uk) but I turned that off cause I thought it might be the problem.

In the parked domain, i've told the domain i bought to redirect to the subdomain of my host because otherwise it just shows a blank page.

I think i've done something wrong.

I'm a bit confused?

Thanks.

Its the redirecting which is the problem I beleive.

As you are redirecting your actual domain to a location which is mapped to the subdomain, its always going to show the actual location.

There is a way to do this though, because I had it working a while back. It works like a subdomain, but is not a subdomain, however still has its own folder within public_html.

Not sure what it was called though.

Hmm, I thought the redirecting would be the problem, but like you said I have no idea how to fix it without making the website not show up at all

EDIT:

I've gone back and removed the redirect from cpanel. So now the Parked Domain isn't redirecting anywhere. Let's see what happens when it updates.

It's a wordpress blog that it's supposed to direct to if that makes any difference. Perhaps the root would be different?
