Default FTP acces from webpage

Okay well I am currently talking to someone about rebuilding their business website which I can do except for one thing. He has an ftp file server that he needs to be able to access along with a portion of it public for some of his clients. Is there some sort of java applet, CMS or something of the sort that will allow his clients to access this content with a user name and password?

Windows Explorer has a built in FTP client but I've never had good experiences with it.

Google gave me this:

Great start but I need something built in if possible (I don't like the idea) but the client gets what the client wants also trying to avoid problems with his clients because they wont want to install anything or deal with stuff through other web pages so the more integrated the better

EDIT: on second thought I'm going to see if I can integrate net2ftp into the webpage thanks!

https://fit.jupiterit.com/

Reading through, it looks like you can install it on your own site. With a little creative editing, you could obviously make it only connect to a specific server and such. Open source so it's 100% customizable.

Why not just access the FTP through the browser? IE and Firefox all include basic FTP connect functionality.

I don't know why he doesn't want to go straight through the browser I've already tried explaining to him my guess is that some of his clients wouldn't be able to figure it out

Something like this? It is not FTP but it allows access to files uploaded. Even gives the admin control over who can upload.

You might want to make sure your server supports the PHP FTP module.
