I am looking for a DNS service with mail forwarding ( I think).
I have a server on a static IP and have email setup with Google Apps. I am not sure how the email would be setup though. With the current host (dedicated server), I change the MX entries to use Gmail. So I would need email support with the DNS, right? I was looking at dyndns, not sure if that is the best solution. It is $30/yr for the Custom DNS and $50/yr (per domain) for the mail services. There are multiple domains and I would like not to be paying $50/yr for each domain if possible. Are there better solutions for DNS? I need reliability and will pay for it, but not if I don't have to... Thanks, Mort.

opendns.com (I misinterpreted the title)
can't you just host your own postini mail server or similar on the dedicated server?

I like Google Apps for email. Would the be a way to setup a mail server to forward to that or something? Sorry, not my area of expertise. |

I use dyndns myself, and I don't think you need the mailhop as a custom deal. Just buy the dns server (ea: mortimersnerd.com) and have it point to your server.

How would I modify the mx entries then?

I've not had to edit mx entries before, and my server has an email server running on it as well. /shrug

You have a number of ways you can do this. You can do it the way you are going now with a third party service, or you can just use your dedicated server which I assume is already running bind or dns software of some kind.
