Question Windows XP 64-bit

Hello,

I am soon to complete my first 64-bit system. I intend to use the 64-bit edition of Windows as the operating system, but I wanted to get some feedback about this OS. Is there a link/site that has information about using Windows that I could look at before I install it in my new system? I basically want to know what/if different drivers, applications, etc. are needed, and perhaps any other tips/advice I can find. Thanks in advance

Before you upgrade to XP x64, look for the x64 drivers for everything you plan to hook up in your system. I got XP x64 right away and I couldn't hook up any printers, wireless adapters, etc. A lot of manufacturers are coming out with 64 bit drivers, but so are limited to their latest hardware. If you don't find the drivers on manufacturer's websites, then check planetamd64.com. They also have a lot of x64 software.

I ran into some driver problelms, for example so far I can't get the overclock Guru to work on my system, My joystick and sound board works, but I don't think I 'm gettin optimal use from either. My dvd drives work but not all programs recognize where they are??(really don't get that one at all). My own opinion would be unless you are really into a lot of datat based apps. then I would stick with 32 until Vista comes out.

x64 isnt too bad for the most part I can find drivers for what I need. The system certainly runs faster for me. I also use x64 linux which is where more problems come is as no java or flash is supported.

yeah they can, some will say no though. A few programs reconize the 64 bit system and say they are incompatible. I do know the sound you have will work on x64. But all non x64 files will install in a program files x86 while x64 will go in programs files.
