Default Help: Computer wont go into windows :\

arghhh well yesterday u udated my pc with windows updates and i turned my pc on today and i can't get into to windows. First of all it will display that windows loading screen (dots going left to right) and after that i get nothing not even my mouse cursor. can i fix this without having to format and also i placed my hard drive in another pc as a secondary and all it 3 partitiions are active and i can access them. I have tried using my hard drive on my little brothers rig but its no use.
I just recently intalled windows xp al over again and ive been doing the regular house keeping duties (i.e Scanning virus/spyware, defraging drives, Disk clean ups etc) so i would have no clue on why all of a sudden my computer stopped working i tried going into asfe mo and it freezes at some Mup.??? i ouldnt get teh full name of it but i really do not want to format. i really hope theres a fix for this.

well...there isnt
windows XP is full of bugs like this...ask any other programmer they'll agree with me. you see basically the boot.ini file has a great tendency to get corrupted and a lot of crap happens and it just ...well....screws up and you have to reformat. that is why i dont like microsoft

Ya if you can't even get into Windows to fix it, the only real thing I ca nthink to do is to reformat your hard drive wit hthe original Windows installation CD.

Which sucks.

First, can you get into safe mode? If not, then I agree with amd_hardsoftware.

If you can get into safe mode, then I suspect your Video drivers. Get into safe mode, and try the following: uninstall video drivers, run drivercleaner. Then reboot to 'normal mode' (and pray while booting), and install drivers again.

Good luck

Try a recovery with the XP CD...XP is so fraught with improbabilites and illogic, that it may just work
