Cant Shutdown - Overclock.net

Ok so here is the problem somitimes whenever I go to turn off my computer via the start menu the computer will sorta halfway shut down, like it will kill some applications and then just stop shutting down, it dosent freeze, it just refuses to turn off and the only way to fully shutdown is to go up and press the power button, I have tried updating drivers and such but I am still having the problem. Any help would be greatly appriciated because this is getting really annoying now.

Some service is refusing to shutdown when the OS send's a shutdown demand. Take a look in the event logs for sign of an application failure.

Also, I heard that there is a registry key that you can implement which will force a shutdown even if services are unresponsive.

Open up Task Manager tab Processes, kill evey single svchost.exe you can see, it'll show the computer shutdown in 60 sec. After that, shutting down should be like normal.

it could possibly be your antivirus,those always cause problems, especially norton.

I always thought it was norton, had the same prob on my old rig, but its weird, its been 3 days of shutting down great (less than 10 secs) now its slow. BTW what is svchost.exe?
