Default It takes my computer 5 min to show the contents of my Computer

AS the title states. My Computer Crashed, i had to hard reboot. I cant boot into windows, i cleared my Cmos. I set reboot. Nothing, i reboot again, I go into windows. I open up My computer and i see that little flash light and it literaly takes like 5 min to find it @_@ I hope my HDD isnt Dying, as i have no money for a new one, Also id like to not i had to unplug my DVD-RW drive in order to boot into windows.

If you're running Vista, it's the Search Indexer screwing up. Turn off indexing in the control panel.

If not, then it could be a number of things. By the sound of things (i.e. CMOS reset, DVD-R strangeness) it could be the motherboard. A problem with the motherboard can translate in slow or otherwise unstable performance. Does it load games, video files faster?

It could also be a windows problem. If you have a system restore point from before the crash, restore from it and see if the issue is still there.

Have you tried to boot into Windows with the "Last Known Good Configuration?"
