Default Problem with Windows install

okay, I just installed my new MB and am trying to reinstall windows. I can get through post just fine, set up my raid0 array, etc. When I get to the windows install, I can't select a drive to install on. There is nothing there, no choices. I tried it without a raid array and get the same result. I've updated the bios to the newest version but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure that you have all HDD'S ( IDE/SATA ) Fully plugged into the mobo and secured. Also make sure your HDD drives are getting power also.

However this sounds more like a BIOS issue so i would try a CMOS reset.

To do this look to your motherboard and you will notice a small batter,Remove the battery for 2 mins and then put it back in .

Also within the the BIOS check that the HDD'S have been detected and also try the HDD autodetection and see if that will help.

okay, i know that everything is plugged in okay because I can see all my HD's when I set up my raid array. I'm wondering if I need install the raid drivers from a floppy as part of windows installation. This is my first time setting up a raid array.

Yes you'll need to use the Raid disk that came with your MOBO. When you start to intall windows you'll see a message telling you to push(f10?) a key to load raid drivers, make sure your floppy is in and press that key. You could also integrate them using nlite.

okay good, I can do that. My mobo didn't come with a disk so I have to make one. I don't understand what nlite is though. Does it matter? Is it just as good to load them with a disk? What is the advantage of nlite? thanks

You'll have to make 1. Usally the cd that comes with the mobo come with a Raid floppy maker, if not you can download it off of your mobo website. Nlite is a Windows installation tool it lets you choose what gets installed, i.e. integrate drivers, remove componets, install raid. You can do most of this yourself after you install windows but nlite does it all before you do.
