I do not think it's possible over the internet.

Hosting a web server is possible, but I beleive you still need third party software and windows xp professional.

Ok so I did some research on it and using Windows xp professional you can. There's a guide about this at http://www.webwizguide.com/asp/tutor..._winXP_pro.asp I have also heard that there is a workaround to try and get IIS installed on xp home but I am not positive. If you are running windows xp home Edition, you may be insterested in this site http://www.15seconds.com/Issue/020118.htm which may allow you to install IIS on Windows XP Home Edition. IIS will allow you to run a webserver or FTP server.

*EDIT* I also found this site which is SUPER helpful for creating an ftp server. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.c...id=1491&page=3

Yes you can set up your computer as an entity of internet. Go to sourceforge.net and download the latest apachetriad. It's a complete server bundle let you run your computer as a server right out of box.

Apache > IIS.

I don't think he wanted a third party program though?
