Default Wierd problem

I recently tried to switch my computer to a different case. After getting all the parts out, I remembered that I had micro ATX and the computer I was transferring to was ATX. So I turned around and put all the parts back into my old case. After all this I screwed up by putting the wrong power supply into my computer. I didn't realize this of course until my fifth try on starting up my computer.

Anyway, I put the right power supply in and started up my computer. I play WoW (World of Warcraft) and was pretty stressed after all this (spent at least 8 hours transferring parts and replacing etc.) and started up WoW. I noticed that WoW was taking an abnormally long time to load, and after 10min I started pulling out my hair with worry. The screen would either go black or just freeze. I can press the windows key, and the task bar will reappear, or unfreeze (depending on what happened). I can also right click on WoW and choose to close it, but the "Program isn't responding" error will pop up and WoW won't close. The only way I can get out of this is by restarting my computer.

So then I reinstalled WoW, and it was fine until I had to install the patches. Once I got to patch 1.12 (the most recent large patch), the computer froze again. I also noticed that the computer would freeze if I tried to start up Rise of Legends or try to join a game of BF2142.

I have run virus scans, bug doctor, AVG, defragged, and scandisked.

When I defragged the first time, WoW started up and I was able to play it. But whenever I would install a new game the computer would go back to hell.

So now I am stuck, defragging does not help, nothing helps, and I cannot play the games I want to play.

A friend told me you guys are very good at figuring out problems and I'm hoping you guys can figure out mine!

#1 Micro ATX motherboards will fit in regular ATX cases.

#2 By the sound of your problem... I think your motherboard is shot.

Really? I can play UT2K4 and F.E.A.R combat fine, and I'm writing this using the computer, it's just those games that cause it to freeze.

Well When doing such a dramatic hardware change such as Motherboard you generally have to reinstall Windows. This is because of driver and registry conflicts...Did you reinstall Windows ?

No, I didn't reinstall windows. However, I didn't *change* much. All I added was a DVD Drive (which I previously didn't have). To put it simply, I disassembled and reassembled my computer (with the intention of giving it new scenery, not for kicks). I did not take the CPU from the motherboard, and I was uber careful not to fry any of the parts.

My best bet would be to reinsert the graphics card. I doubt it would work though.

Some of your RAM could also have been zapped, since the games you mentioned uses quite alot of RAM compared to F.E.A.R. and UT2K4

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.
