Dont know if this will help anyone but I have an audio device, Tascam FW1884 which does not have vista drivers and the XP ones wouldn't install.

I then right clicked the install.exe of the driver and put into windows XP sp2 mode and it installed into Vista no worries and now my device appears to be working without a hitch in Vista.

did you try you audio dievices before installing the drivers as vista has a lot of drivers built in now my sound card or ethernet didnt need drivers but good find if they didnt work before

No it needed specific drivers to work. Actually have run into other problems now with Vista and my audio workstation. For some reason a set of plugins for Cubase SX3 will not work correctly under Vista. They install and all that but the host program, Cubase, doesn't recognise them. Wierd.
