Default Cannot Instal XP Pro SP2 on Asus A8V Deluxe with SATA Raptor WD 76GB HD

I have been trying to install Windows XP on my SATA HD using a clean install. My HD has been wiped completely. NO DATA exists on it.

I am using my old IDE HD to try and get the RAID controller file needed to install XP on my PC.

The version of XP i have is not bootable so I much use the 6 setup disk which I have made and loaded with XP Pro SP2 to match my XP CD. During hte first disk it askes me if I want to install in Third party SCSI or RAID controllers, to press F6. So i press F6 and install the WinXp controller I got from my mobo driver CD.

/promise/378ATA/makedisk.exe

was the file i used to create it i belive all though i have tried ALL the files on the disk. I have also tried downloading the newest drivers from Asus's website to ensure that the ones i have are not corrupt. That did not work either.

The message i am getting "When i press enter to Setup Windows XP" is "setup does not recognizre any installed hard disks" etc.

What am I do wrong or what have I overlooked?

Sorry for the double post from another threat but it fits more in this catergory.

You may want to find the floppy disc with the driver cabinet files in it. 1st or 2nd disk and "meld" the raid drivers into it. This is rather difficult unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.
It is far easier to have a bootable cd that you can use to slipstream the drivers you need into and proceed from there ......

it aint that hard you will have to use the makedisk.exe, to make a floppy with the drivers you need after pressing f6

He HAS the drivers but they are probably are unsigned or have not passed windows testing (uncertified by windows) so they will no go in. Perhaps someone could provide specific instructions (step by step) on how to integrate the promise sata / raid drivers using makedisk.exe that will be necessary for NeroZer00 to do the XP install on system ...........

if he is using that file, it will not work because that is not a driver,it is for creating a floppy with the driver on it, than after you created this floppy start windows install, push f6, and insert it when asked...

I have run into this very same problem on other installs and I have found that even though you are using WHQL windows certified drivers and you have created the floppy from the manufacturer's site XP won't recognize the drivers on the floppy as a viable option. I do not fully understand why xp is so quirky about this but I have only found 2 viable workarounds ....

1. Meld the drivers into your set of floppies which requires you to load all of the contents of the 6 discs into a file ..... integrate your drivers into the proper cab file and the use a file splitter utility to put the data back on t discs ( now 7 discs)
OR
2. The easy way...... use nlite to integrate the files that you need into a new OS install disc.

I have the same HDDs and the same problem. I have a new system I just built with a raid controller on the Mobo (striker extreme). I used their dvd to create a disk with the required txt****.oem file and the other drivers. When setup starts, I immediately press f6 but there is no response. after it is done getting ready it says it can't detect a storage drive and to press S to load drivers. I press 'S', insert Disk, and hit enter. Then, it says it can't find the txt****.oem file but I can see the file in the floppy's root while looking at it through DOS.
I need specific instructions in plain english... I don't know what 'meld' is...

Please help!
