Default Why can't i play video on Vista
Hey guys I got some XVID files i ripped and no matter what they are i can't play them back.

Yes i use VLC. Yes It's up to date. WMP doesn't work either. I get audio but no video. And yes i have audio/video 1 track enabled. Is there a solution or Should i get another media player. This is realy funny.

This better be not another example on Microshaft hatting on the open source community.

It's VISTA RTM by the way.

download the xvid codec, or divx

xvid
divx

both will work its more the one you prefer and once installed watch said video in WMP

geez i forgot about codec pacs. But doesn't VLC include the codecs or something? I will go download the XVID codec when i get home. When i had XP i didn't need any codec packs at all, what gives.

Now i can't play MPEG 4 can anyone sugest a codec pack that i can use. Thanks by the way the xvid codec worked.

Try the codec pack I suggested... I have never had a problem with any media using this pack.
