Do I need to be in safe mode?
Is there a console equivalent of all that right clicking? Is there a way to take ownership of a folder, it's subfolders and all files all at once without manually changing each folders' permissions? The problem is, I just had to reinstall windows, and my firefox configuration and bookmarks and plugins are all locked in a private folder for a user that doesn't exist anymore.

here's what you have to do to gain privilege:You need XP pro!!!
config panel->folder options-> uncheck the last option in display tab(use simple file sharing ) So go into the documents and settings/ your name right click it-> properties-> security tab-> advanced settings in lower left ->owner/possessor tab(mines in french)->underline the user you want to gain control with and click "replace owner of folder...." and you're done!
