Well I can home from college this weekend, and brought the computer home b/c of work I need to do. However I didn't bring home the monitor(less to carry home) and am just using an old CRT. The refresh rate is set to high for it to handle and I don't know how to lower it. I just get the black screen with an error message.
Really need some help. Have to use windows at home b/c Linux and PPPoE stink.

Maybe boot into safe mode and uninstall the vidcard drivers and start over.

I got it fixed. I booted into safe mood and tried lowering the res down to 800x600. Didn't help. So then I did a system restore in safe mode and that did the trick.

Ah yes, System restore. Its funny how the simplest thing can remedy the seemingly unfixable problem.

safe mode doesn't solve the problem, goto VGA MODE and change the refresh rate then reboot your pc :P
