Hey all
__________________![]() I now have Vista Ultimate and before installing this, I decided I wanted to try XP Pro (because I used to have XP Home). But then I changed my mind and decided to go buy Vista Ultimate. Anyway, I loaded the XP Pro disk from the desktop and it copied the files over then rebooted as it does, and has the "XP Pro Installation" as a boot choice, as well as the regular XP Home I had. I edited boot.ini and it wasn't there .. I've looked allover and have no clue how to remove this from boot. Now every time I start Windows, I have to manually select 'Windows Vista' from the Bootloader, as the XP Pro Installation is the default choice. It's so annoying. How do I get rid of it? Extra Info: I DON'T have XP installed. Just Vista.

Yeah. I used a program called BCDEdit to edit the Boot. Sorry for tyyping Boot.ini, but I meant the file you referenced to.

I tried that program. It only shows Vista, yet after Applying the information (and Reinstalling the bootloader), XP Pro Installation still shows up.

Have you tried clicking on Vista, setting it as Default, in that program?

I'm not sure if the options are in the same place in vista, but right click my computer, select properties, Advanced, start up and recovery then edit the list. That's how to remove boot options in XP. I'll check on my vista machine later when I get home from work.

Prosser: It's set as the default, yeah. I'd opened that program since restarting therefore the tickbox wasn't shown as checked again.

To aid you a little more, I've taken a DCIM of what I see when I start the PC (the two options):
