Hey all
__________________![]() When I was on XP, I used to get around 29-30*c Idle temperatures. But since upgrading to Vista, I'm lucky if I get under 35*c Idle. I'm at stock volts & speed (~2.2Ghz).. and SpeedFan shows: ![]() Why is this? The CPU usage is no higher than 3-5% .. yet very high temperatures. The CPU's dropped to 36 at the moment, but that's the lowest I'm going to get.

Vista is your operating system. It wont effect temps at all, unless its forcing your CPU to work harder to render all that aero stuff

Well, why is it that 2 days ago when I used XP, it was idle at 28-30*c, and now it's higher. I know it isn't understandable, but it is.

Is it possible that you've had different fan speed setups in Vista and XP ?

Like i said, a possibility is your CPU is being used more, like 10% rather than 5%, which could cause it.
Other than that, i have no clue

I agree, Vista is probably using more system resources which is causing the increase in temps.

Vista is stated to use less resources and be more efficient than XP.
__________________My ambients haven't rose. And my fan setup is the same. Everything's exactly the same, exept a new OS. If anything, Vista uses LESS CPU than XP. But still, I shouldn't be getting those temperatures even if the CPU was at 10%. I don't have a high Vcore or O/C. It's forever going up and down. 42 .. then the next second or two it'll be 38. Then the next 39 .. Make up your mind Speedfan.. :S
