regedit in vista
i was trying to install office 07 on my vista ultimate 64 bit but i get the registry error 1406. so i tried to set permissions in regedit but the permissions button is greyed out, im running off the administrator account also. i cant think of any reasons why it wont work

If you are clicking the setup.exe, right click on it and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

yea i tried that but it still comes up with the 1406 error...maybe the setup is corrupt? :\ i could always send it back for another one

Open Run...
Type in "regedit" but don't hit enter. Hold down... erggh i think it's Ctrl-Shift enter. I'll have to look again. It makes things run at the highest possible privileges or something.

The only thing i could find was for xp fixes. I tired searching but no one had a solution for Vista.
__________________Make sure you have the latest updates from vista. When i get home later i will check on my vista for user permissions and groups. You might need to be added to a group in order to install certain things that require more previlages.

Was gunna say Office 2007 works fine for me. Unless you have like a "shady" copy.
