Default Vista nightmare

Ok, yesterday I received my Windows Vista 64 bit retail upgrade edition. Not including 64 bit version. I decided to install the 32 bit version while waiting for the 64 version. I installed it on wrong partition E: and I had Windows Boot Manager screen at post asking if I wanted to boot with XP or Vista. I decided to reinstall Vista on the good partition C:. Everything worked, old XP was wiped but there's still a Boot Manager but this time it's for 2 Windows Vista boot. I format E: and even if everything is destroyed from the old installation there's still the choice to select it in Boot Manager. I'd like to know how to completly remove it and not have a Windows Boot Manager screen.

2nd problem. I installed Vista from my DVD drive and it isn't recognized in Vista when everything is updated. There's no sign of it at all. The light is on the DVD drive. Everything is connected correctly. I tried reconnecting. No sign at all.

I will probably end up reinstalling Vista but I want to wipe everything and do a fresh install. Any1 has a step by step. I want everything to be formatted and the choice to move partitions.

Thanks (feeling nub a lot)

I'd highly recommend getting a full version of vista, even if its OEM.

Those upgrade CDs really seem to be buggy. I tried to do it with ME > XP and I had so many problems.

The upgrade is the same as retail. Just that you have to upgrade your Vista Home Prenium when it's finished installing to be able to activate it.

IIRC upgrade means you've already gotta have an OS on there?

I had XP, on C:. Installed Vista on E: with a misclick lol. So I tried wiping everything on C: and reinstallling Vista on it. Then I wiped E: but there's still 2 boot options.

I had that problem with 2 options to boot to, I used a command prompt to remove the others. If you want I can try to find the link again.

Vistabootpro is your answer.

And yes, afaik, the upgrade CD is no different to a full retail version, it still lets you do a clean install of Vista and can be activated without having a previous version of Windows on your hard drive, you don't even need a copy of the old install disc.

If you don't know already, search Google, plenty of info.
