put in your windows disk, shut down the computer, then go into bios and set it to boot from cd drive, then re-install windows. it will "reformat your pc and wipe everything out and once finished you will have a fresh version of windows installed. and then next time you boot up go back into bios and make sure its set to boot yoru HD first. its pretty simple really. good luck!

just pop in the XP cd...boot from cd....and install it again. When it asks you how to format do a "full" format.
__________________(you don't have to set it back to boot from HD first...I have mine boot from CD>HD>None. That's how it's set up...cause it can boot from floppy...but who does that? lol

You'll see QUICK NTSF and just regular NTSF. DO NOT choose FAT32 if you see it.
Between Quick and Full reformatting. Full: During full reformat, the reason why it takes so long is because it scans for Bad Sectors on your hard drive. This can take a long time. My longest was around 3 hours just to get past the scan. Quick: During a quick reformat, it skips the scan for bad sector session. QUICK should only be used if you have had any operating system running smoothly before. If you're using a new hard drive, do a FULL reformat. If you do a quick format, make sure to scan for bad sectors when you get into desktop. It's like cvdisk or something. I don't clearly remember.

It will ask you to boot from CD. As long as the ide drive is properly connected to the motherboard and has power it will work.
