That is because you installed with a removable drive in your system... I can't remember the exact fix, but I know you can't do it with windows running plain out.

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

Installed OS using CD/DVD drive, don't have floppy and didn't have anything else hooked up except monitor and keyboard and mouse (which are wireless)
Not sure what you mean by a removable drive "IN" my system. As for changing back to having a C: can it be done in bios or in safe mode?

when you install windows, you can't have any card readers hooked up. that's why it selected H: for your windows partition.

you'll have to disconnect the card readers, then reinstall windows, then hook up the card readers.

Thanks for the info svtfmook, I guess that would explain it as there is a multi card reader on the front panel.

Well; that's one question down. Thanks again.
My other question about --- SATA Controller found in IDE mode

Here is the solution (it worked fine for me)

With the BIOS on IDE open Regedit and go to:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci\Star t
and change whatever you have on DWORD to '0'

Raboot
Reboot again, enter BIOS
Change IDE to AHCI, Save
Let the OS redetect your drives
Reboot

That's it, hope it helps
I found that on neowin.net. This is to change your SATA controller from IDE mode to SATA mode after you have installed XP. If you do it before installing XP, you just change a setting in BIOS. I hope this is what you're looking for as I've never heard of the issue and I don't have an Intel mobo to try it on.
