Default Updated to IE7 now internet wont work

I am running a dual boot of XP professional and XP professional X64. This is a new system so I have been updating things for the last couple of days. Today I updated my internet explorer in my XP pro (32 bit) and now I cant get IE to work. It will open the window like its its starting up, but then it freezes. I can open other programs, but if I close them they stay on the screen, and if I move them I get trails. I have tried opening the add/remove hardware wizard to see if I could uninstall the update, but that wont open either. It will open the window and say that it is generating a list, but thats all it will do. I do have the ability to close the wizard if I want to, but I cant close IE. (I have to shut down) The other strange thing is that After I open IE my task manager does not register it as a running program (not on the list at all), but I still have 50-100% load on the processor running IE or the wizard. Help me. Im at the point of doing a retore or a repair because it seems that verything is freezing up.
