Default XP Pro or XP Pro 64 bit?

What is the better choice for my system? It is used mainly for gaming.

The only games which you will see a difference in 64-bit is Farcry, Half-Life2, and I think it was Serious Sam.

For overall gaming use 32bit (more secure drivers, etc.)
However, 64bit won't give a huge FPS hit.

I would say, stick with 32-bit for now. But, order Vista 64bit and keep it laying around until you feel support for it is up to par. Microsoft officially supporting (and really pushing) a 64-bit OS means we'll see some great strides in driver development and applications support in the next year.

I actually JUST (and I mean, I was on NewEgg and surfed over here) ordered Vista Home Premium 64bit, just to keep it laying around or to install it in a dual boot with XP.

Here's what you do, it's simple. Just look and see if 64-bit Drivers are out for each piece of your hardware. Specifically, your video cards. If your hardware is supported, go for the 64-bit. If its not, wait for the drivers or just stick to 32 bit.

I'm using 64-bit right now, and I do feel a difference in certain games (HL2 and WoW)

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

I've been doing the dual boot thing for a little while, and lately I've realized that I hardly boot into XP at all anymore. Once I decided to start playing with Vista, I realized it isn't all that bad. I't a little slower when I'm playing a big game like FEAR or HL2, but not really enough to notice.

To answer the original question, use 32 bit unless all your software/hardware is up-to-date (no older than a year or 2 at most). If everything is new, you won't have a problem running 64.

I'm probably going to end up installing it over XP and just using it from there. For some reason Windows XP (well, more specifically NTFS) hates being resized and a lot of crazy crap happens when I do it.
