Default Which applications can i turn off??

My dad has Windows XP and he wants to kno which background processes he can turn off?? (like the proceses)

Why does he want to turn them off? Most of those background processes are turned on automatically when windows starts so it can perform w/e and work properly. But there certainly are others that are turned on by running apps etc.

why not just reformat its better to have a fresh install then having to turn thr procceses off everytime
