Is it possible to delete and administrator account in Windows XP Pro? I had recently reformatted and I had let someone else take the reigns if you will, and now there are two user accounts setup. The problem is that I only want one. I have this user setup exactly the way I want it, but of course it isnt the Administrator account. I only found this out recently when I tried to delete the other account, which happens to be the administrator. Hope that this makes sense, I will try to clarify a bit if needed. Thanks.

right click on my computer, go to manage, then local users and groups, users. and delete the account you don't want.

An error pops up saying you cannot delete built-in accounts.

see if you can just disable it then. same area just right click on the name and see if "disable" is an option

And I would go ahead and 'repair' my installation of XP, but that is just not necessary and too much work for what its worth. Its basically reinstalling Windows just for that little problem...
__________________Oh I found an option to disable it. I right clicked the Admin -->properties and check a box that said something about disabling the account. I'm going to restart and see what happens..

It's not "re-installing" Windows, it's just repairing it. You don't lose data.

And to Stanrc, this appears to have worked just perfectly. Thanks for the tip.
