Default Vista X64 Compatibility!

Hey guys, so, I am trying to buy myself a laptop, and, I would have 4GB of RAM on it, I want to make full usage of them. So I thought about Vista 64-bit, only thing:
Does F.E.A.R work? Does F.E.A.R XP work? Does Battlefield 2/2142 work?
What are good anti-virus programs for it?

As far as I know F.E.A.R. does NOT work on 64-bit operating systems. I know for a fact that it does not work under Windows XP X64, however I do not know about Vista (although I would assume not, since the XP problems were due to the 64-bit kernel.

I dont know about Battlefield.

If I would rather sacrifice 512MB of unused RAM than F.E.A.R, I will go to Vista x86 for sure then.

Fear worked for me but frames were just stupid. I actually had to wait for the graphics to catch up to the sound and keystroke commands. Completely unplayable. Might as well have been using like an x300 radeon with all max settings on the game. But I don't feel that this will be the case going forward. 64bit os have been around long enough now and 32bit can't handle large amounts of ram. I feel safe with my 64bit vista.

Ya but there is no point of playing F.E.A.R if the action isn't synchronized with sound.

From what I've heard, Vista's 32-bit emulation in x64 is near-perfect, so there's really not much reason to use the 32-bit version.
DO NOT take cues from XP 64. That thing was a joke.

Good antivirus would be AVG, or Avast, both of which I believe have 64-bit vista editions.

Allright, I've made my mind, thanks, x86 for now, no use to go to x64 as of now, outside of allowing more RAM, it opens new layers in the operating system who are very vulnerable to hacks and viruses.

DUDE. STOP HEARING WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR.
http://blogs.technet.com/security/ar...12/446104.aspx
X64 SECURITY > X86 SECURITY.

Also, from what I've heard, X64 performance > X86 performance.
