Overclocker

Well, after leaving my PC on for 3 days straight (do it all the time) my idle ram usage was OVER 1GB. So I said, "**** that" and went back to Server 2003. I feel much...cleaner now. Anyone else uninstalled Vista?

The end is nigh.....
|
Erm....may i ask why?
People stress because there IDLE RAM is being taken up That's like complaining at your brother for eating the food you are going to throw in the bin ![]() The system STOPS using the RAM when you enter a game. It only uses what you don't need at that present time. Vista is awesome, i will never go back ![]()

Turing Test is Overrated

So what? Unused RAM = wasted RAM.
If that is the only reason you went back.... not really a reason. Vista uses idle RAM to prefetch data that you may use. It predicts that based on your past usage. If you load an app that actually needs the RAM, it frees up the pre-fetch RAM.

exactly... that's not a smart reason to roll back.
I am currently using about 760MB of RAM... and about 100MB of it is two sessions of Internet Explorer ![]() And this rig has been up and running without a reboot for nearly two weeks. So you buy 2GB of RAM... and then when it's actually used, it's not good ![]() So when I overclock my CPU to 3.5GHz, I should be upset when an application uses that speed?

I am also sticking with Vista, even though it eats my benchmark scores. I love the ease of use. It's just going through growing pains right now, just like XP did.

I'm not using it because all my apps don't work with it just yet.
Other than that, it's a great OS. (For the most part.) ![]() Granted, with a little of work I could've got everything to work (ATITool just needs to be signed, etc), but I rather stick with XP for a bit longer. ![]()
