Default Vista gone insane!

This is the weirdest day. First Vista says i need to reactivate due to hardware changes and i wind up doing it on the phone because it won't let me online. Then resident evil 4 says im using emulation software. Anyone else having similar issues?

thats the one part where vista sucks. any hardware change is registered as a complete new system. Vista can only be installen on 1 system, so you'd have to contact microsoft for a new key, or something like that.
its an (unsucessfull) way of trying to stop piracy (which has already found a few ways around the entire protection of vista) but hurts legitimate systembuilders, like yourself, the most.

i dont see how simply reactivating vista this way will give emulation errors.
is it a legal copy of the game? if so, do you have a friend with a copy that you could try instead of your own?

I apologize for sounding a bit ignorant here but it is an honest question and I am curious to know. Taking a look at your system and what you're running it seems to me that there is no real reason in particular for you to run Vista.

You are running hardware that isn't actually "supported" by Vista and you are running applications and/or games designed and optimized for XP.

I am sorry about your problems as I don't really know what the problem could be, but as it says...have you changed your hardware recently (even if you swapped something out and back in, starting Windows in between)?

The only certain thing that I can tell you for now is that you should really consider using XP for now and switching to Vista later until you need or use it for anything (this would include DX10 games which you don't have a DX10 card for, Vista designed and optimized applications which won't be for a while, and finally a good Vista driver base) because as it stands right now from what I can see you don't.

*Edit: Have you played Resident Evil on Vista before it gave you this error or is it something that comes up every time you have tried to run it or install it from the day you bought it?

Are you trying to use the mouse mod?

No i tried it but then the launcher wouldn't work so i grabbed an old USB game pad i had laying around from the days when i used my laptop to game.

Yeah it did. I just tried again and the game worked fine although it took a second to start up.

Quote:
Why are you running Vista?
Looks better, get more done quicker, the style matches the physical appearance of my pc, MUCH more secure, sidebar, compatibility is rarely an issue so really it doesn't matter, my system is powerful enough to run everything on 1440x900 maxed out (although on 2142 i had to lower the anti aliasing.) Vista is far more usefull and I'm prepared for the future because when cards are released that can actually game on DX10 ill be ready to buy the card and nothing else and go. Among the many many other reasons. Like i said all i'm losing is a little AA here and there but other then that all my games run great and beautifully (FEAR, 2142, Resident Evil (even thought this is a low end game.) Etc.)

Quote:
w8.... RE4 is out for PC? is it any good?
Its great although i now despise Ubisoft for gutting it. (EG No mouse support, bad graphics, things i myself could have programmed better and i do mean that when i say it.) Overall i would advise you buy it but i wouldn't pay more then 20 bucks for it unless you get the European version that has mouse support. Ubisoft figured it was worth their time to release a patch for the European version for mouse support but not for the English version.

Yeah everything i have is 100% legal.

Hope you never do you have to call Microsoft and the computer can't understand English well. And if you get a person they use Indian tech support. So you can't understand him/her then.

If it matters the sidebar froze on startup... which has never happened before.

Also i got it working after another try or so, still that was very weird.
