Vista activation help!
Hey guys, so i built my rig below on Friday.
Had to re-install Vista because it was practically a complete new rig. So when i try to activate it i get this  Shouldn't it detect that my HDD has been reformatted and that this is the only computer the OS is being used on? How do i get around this? Rep+ to anyone who helps, and i really hope i don't have to ring them. I can't do with talking to people who hardly understand English (no offence to any non-english, it's just in-efficient and annoying) Iced.

I would say that you probably will have to call,the automated system may work, otherwise just tell them that you just did an upgrade, and get your new activation code.

OEM or Retail? If nothing helps just call Microsoft explain and get a new key.

But if they give me a new key, doesn't that mean i won't be able to use my ORIGINAL key anymore? Even in future builds? Which totally defeats the point of me buying retail if i have to ring them every time Bah M$ sucks

You can still use your key. Call M$ and you will talk to an outsourced tech person. Tell them your situation and they will give you a 54 digit number as according to their phone activation algorithm. Them viola your Vista copy will be activated.

They didn't give me a new key. Just a 56 digit number to enter.
I know ti hasn't been jacked because the case has never left my room and i have never posted anything about it on the net. I think it thinks the OS is still installed on another HDD It's activated now anyways. The guy on the phone had no emotion lol It was awesome
