I just built a new computer last night and tried to install Windows Vista on it. I pop the disk in and boot to it and it beings to load the setup files then goes to the blank progress bar page and freezes there (as in never leaves the page). I've tried several times with a total of four different vista discs to no luck.

so it shows the black page with "loading windows files" then changes to the multicolored splash page and just sits there? If so that's what it's suppose to do. When the installation gets to that page it will probably be there anywhere from 2-6 minutes. The initialization of the installation takes forever but it speeds up.

I've tried the upgrade and once it reboots to actually install Vista it does the same thing. Plus I would like to use Vista x64 and you can't just do an upgrade for that.
__________________The page it freezes on isn't multicolored. It's the plain black with green progress bar bootup page you see whenever you start vista. I've left it on that page for as long as 20 minutes and it's still just sitting there. I never had this behaviour on my old system and I don't think it should be on that page for that long. It might be noteworthy that the progress bar freezes for a few seconds every second time it goes across the screen.

I figured out how to get it too boot to the windows setup in safe mode and discovered that it freezes on loading the driver disk.sys.
