If it is a retail copy, then call MS and let them know what is going on.

Was it OEM? From what I remember, if you've got OEM, you're stuck with only what you started with, and can't add on. If it's a fixed key installer from a package you bought, you should be able to reinstall without problems. I don't know why you're having problems like that though.

Did you talk to a person on the phone?
Is it OEM or retail? If you already did talk to a person, try calling again and speaking with someone else.

Its OEM, A friend did the exact same thing and he successfully activated his copy online. Whereas i have tried online (Nothing), Automated online activation (Again nothing) and i don't see why i would have any problems what so ever?

After you fail the automated thing you will be directed to a rep who once you explain your situation will without question reactivate your windows install. This is with the phone activation deal.

I have tons of trouble with the same thing... many times just putting a new hard drive in will require me to reactivate, and every single time I do, I have to call MS and speak to a representative (after the automated one fails), and they ask me the same stupid questions about whether I've put it on a different computer, etc. It's annoying.
BTW, that's on a retail version. Not sure about OEM, if that's what you've got.
