Error durring install

Well I'm trying to install Vista on a computer and I get this
![]() it happens durring the first screen after it you press any key... it wont let me go into safe mode or anything...

Haven't come across that before, my initial plan of action would be to try another DVD-Rom tbh.

Did you format a linux partition onto that drive before you tried to install vista on it? Or maybe the whole drive as a linux partition?
I would recommend that you do a low level format from your MFG's (whoever that may be) utility CD. If you don't have one, download their disk utilities from their website.

I can't format the drive.. it has too much stuff I need

I am sorry I could have sworn you said it loaded ubuntu above. I assumed that meant you loaded/installed it onto the hard drive, not just booted it from the CD.
What stuff? Is it an NTFS XP drive? Maybe more data would help me/us understand what you are doing. Maybe a complete sig of the system you are using for this would help too?

So vista is already installed and you are trying to install it again on the same drive and you don't want to lose anything that is on the drive?
