XP was installed first.Vista Ultimate was installed second on a unused partition. Now when I come to the select a O.S. screen I click on old windows verion and the screen goes blank and stays blank. Are all my files lost?Or is vistas bootloader to blame?

correction: vista does see the xp drive but does not recognize the other partition that has all my files on it.There are 4 partitions on the drive and Vista only sees 2

Seems like your other partitions werent split properly. What did you use to make the partitions? You should try Paragon Partition Manager.

Did you touch the partitions after vista install? If not, it might have been vista.. As I can't think of another reason for your problem.

Maybe they have to be mounted, goto Administrator Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. See if there are any inactive partitions...
