Steps to using Rivatuner effectivly on Vista 64. This involves making your system insecure so it is only an option to those who are willing to take the risk.
__________________First off- Disable UAC: 1) run msconfig 2) go to the tools tab 3) click the disable UAC or if it is enabled, unclick it. 4) restart Stopping Windows Update: 1) start > right click computer > properties 2) on the bottom part, it says windows updates 3) change settings 4) never check for updates 5) click okay and exit Disable Windows Defender: 1) open up Windows Defender 2) Tools 3) General Settings 4) Go to: Real Time Protection Options 5) Uncheck "Turn On Real Time Protection Options" 6) Save 7) Close out Disable Driver Signature: (If you have all the updates for Vista) 1) start > right click computer > properties 2) on the bottom part, it says windows updates 3) view update history on the left side 4) on the top it should say if you want to unistall an update click "installed updates" do that 5) Look for KB932596 6) click and uninstall, it will ask you to restart the computer, do 7) On reboot, do the F8, disable driver signatures Disable Bcdedit Checks: 1) start > all programs> accesories > right click on command prompt> run as admin 2) type in "bcdedit" then do "bcdedit -set loadoptions \*DISABLE_INTERGRITY_CHECKS" 3) should ask you to restart 4) restart and do the F8 disable driver signatures Rivatuner: 1) Install latest Rivatuner 2) Overclock whatever you may 3) If you know how to make the settings stick restart 4) You don't have to do the F8 thing anymore. 5) When you come back in it should work, also if it says something about the drivers and being recongized and for rivatuner to turn it off, than click yes and restart. Hope this works! It has for me atleast!!

This doesn't tell me how to overclock with Vista, but how to install RivaTuner. Nevertheless, a nice guide

Well if you need to be told how to use RivaTuner then this guide isn't right for you...
Anyways that's dead on, it worked for me. I didn't have to disable windows defender though.

haha, not at all, but I thought it was a little misleading, besides I don't remember doing any of what is explained in the guide except getting rid of the damn driver signing to get RivaTuner running.

well for me, i had to disable all of the other things because it would re-download the update, and defender would block rivatuner no matter what

Disabling driver signing is part of the guide, via my sig The information in here is now obsolete ::: you need to uninstall 4 KB updates to disable driver signing.
