Default Vista & Avast

I went to the avast site as I love there product on my XP Pro machine and I was eager to get rid of mcafee on my new Visa home premium lappy but when I installed it it blocks all internet connection ... if it is running then I can connect but I can't load any web pages it just times out .. anyone else running avast with vista?

Mines working fine...have you tried to disable the internet protection? If you have a firewall running(i.e. windows firewall) you dont have to worry about avast's internet protection.

You need to get rid of McAfee in the registry as well. and in Program files. As McAfee doesn't uninstall all the way. Here is the link for the Removal Tool. Just go down to where it says "How to uninstall supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR2.exe)" and it will open the page for the Removal tool for you.

I thought Avast didn't run protection for firefox. I can't load a page in either IE or FF. but i will try it

The problem wont be with Avast. Its always run fine for me under Vista. Perhaps a formats in order?
