Default Downgrading from Vista

I'm wanting to go back to xp and I'm running an upgrade version of vista. Should I be able to put the xp disc in and just reinstall xp?

No. You should completely reformat and do a clean install.

You have to completely reformat to go back to XP from Vista.

You might be able to uninstall vista through add/remove programs since it is a upgrade not a full.

I wouldn't recommend it though.. Usually causes problems.

Ok, I don't have a whole lot of experience with reformatting, so how would I go about doing this in Vista. I've searched the forums but I haven't found a topic that has explained it well enough.

Put the XP disc in the drive, restart, boot to the XP CD, delete the vista partition, reformat and install XP like normal. You will lose all your data so be sure to backup your stuff.

If its an upgrade version then just remove vista in control panal & u should be straight, just like u upgraded from 98-xp u can do the same to go back to 98.You cant install xp from the desktop because vista is the lastest OS,so the install xp set up will not be clickable when the splash screen come on.But if you feel u need to reformat u just have to back it up your drive & reformat with xp.
