Default Windows XP Professional x64 Question

Well, i installed this a while ago and it ran fine, i installed all my software/drivers etc.

Then i rebooted, as you do after you've installed drivers. Once it had loaded i got the Welcome screen, infinitely. Does anybody know why this happened? Or am i just going crazy?

Are you trying to say that the computer froze at the page where you type in your log in password? I have had my computer freeze like that before and I have Windows XP 64bit Professional. I have also noticed that BF2142 hates my operating system which sucks because that is a great game and I can't stand getting random in-game freezes that cause me to do a complete hard reboot. I was reading some place else that people with 64bit Vista were also getting weird errors as well as those that took that fateful step toward buying and using 64 bit Windows XP.

It sounds like you used a bad driver for an important peice of hardware (or unimportant, could still make windows hang while trying to load it). Probally accidently installed the vista x64 driver instead of the XP one? Try safe mode and uninstall the drivers you did before reboot, then make sure you get the right ones.

(edit) If that doesn't work, install the drivers one by one so you can tell which one is causing the hang.
